New Artwork Celebrates the Blues Legacy of Walnut Street

At Hotel 27, we believe every stay should connect guests to the rich history, culture, and character of the Mississippi Delta. That's why we're excited to unveil a new original work of art that now welcomes guests to our historic property.
The painting, commissioned from Mississippi artist Tony Davenport, captures the energy and soul of the blues that have long been part of Walnut Street and downtown Greenville. Set against the backdrop of Hotel 27's historic courtyard, the artwork evokes the music, movement, and cultural heritage that continue to define the Delta experience.
This project was made possible in part through grant funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission. We are grateful for their support of Mississippi artists and arts organizations, helping communities like Greenville preserve and share the stories that make our state unique.
Tony Davenport is a member of the Mississippi Arts Commission's Artist Roster and is widely recognized for his ability to capture the spirit of Mississippi through his work. His newest piece for Hotel 27 reflects not only the legacy of blues music in the Delta but also the vibrant culture that continues to inspire visitors from around the world.
As Mississippi's only operational not-for-profit hotel, Hotel 27 is committed to offering more than a place to stay.
